The EXPERIENCE BRIGADE
Traditionally Kings XI Punjab have always been entertainers even when they have finished outside the Top four, George Bailey and his 2014 team comes to mind with Glenn Maxwell in the form of his life and an inspired Mitchell Johnson picking up wickets on will. Ultimately it was not meant to be for the team from Punjab but as one says ” They might not have won the trophy but they certainly won many hearts”
This current squad functions on a similar blueprint which starts from their star batsman and skipper KL Rahul, the Bangalore opener has made the opening spot his own during the last 18 months in limited over games for India, partnering him will be the test opener of the Indian cricket team Mayank Agarwal along with the pace attack led by Indian pacer Mohammed Shami and Chris Jordan. It is understood that Nicolas Pooran can also play a pivotal role at the top of the order. All- rounders Jimmy Neesham and Afghani Mujeeb-ur-Rehman can also prove to be more than a helping hand for this squad of players.
When it comes to X-Factor two Jamaicans come to mind, Sheldon Cottrell who has evolved into a great death bowler as he ably showed in the World Cup in 2019 and the other one being but obvious “Universe Boss” Chris Gayle, Need we say anything more.

The Trump card in this case however once again will be Glenn Maxwell or how the punjabis like to call it Glennpreet, The Aussie has exactly showed in the Big Bash this year why he is still considered one of the most destructive batsman of all time. There are few in world cricket with Glenn Maxwell’s range of shots and the guts to play them at critical junctures in the match at the same time. Skippering the Melbourne Stars to the finals of the Big Bash where they lost to Steve Smith’s Sydney Sixers.
Predicted XI : KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan, Jimmy Neesham, Sheldon Cottrell, Mohammed Shami, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi.
